Easy Party Themes
Easy party themes to help make your next party more memorable and fun.
You may be thinking that planning a theme party is complicated and time consuming. In fact, planning a theme party is actually quite simple. As a professional party planner, I’m going to let you in on a little trade secret… Incorporating a theme into your party not only makes the party more exciting and memorable for your guests, it actually makes the entire party planning process much more easy, and a lot more fun for you, too.
Planning a party with a theme does not have to entail a lot of hard work, time, or expense. Let me show you how party themes actually make it easy to plan a party.
Giving your party a theme gives you focus and direction in coordinating all the party details. Themes make it easy to tie all of the elements of a party (food, decor, music, etc) together into one cohesive, interesting, and exciting experience. Once you have this sense of direction that a theme gives you, planning a party actually becomes quite easy – more so than it would otherwise be, in fact.
Party themes help fuel your mind with ideas for all the different aspects of yourparty. A party theme is a great starting point to get your ideas flowing, even if you don’t think you are a creative or imaginative party planner.
A theme has the ability to turn an otherwise ordinary party into an entire “experience” for your guests. Themes makes a party more fun, exciting and memorable. Depending on the theme you choose, centering your party around a theme can make guests feel like they’ve been transported to another time or place – a party theme may even give your guests the opportunity to become someone else for a few hours.
Experimenting with different elements and styles for the parties you throw is fun and rewarding.
In a moment we’ll give you some easy party themes you can use “as is”. But first, let us show you how easy it is for you to come up with your own easy party themes all on your own, anytime you want. Creating a theme for your party really is easy. Party themes can be created in many ways. You can draw inspiration from your favorite movies, books, songs, or stories. Or think of exciting places you’d like to visit (do a “One Night in Paris” theme or a Hollywood theme), or favorite places you’ve actually been to (do a Hawaian luau theme). You can also base a theme on a fashion trend, a color, a pattern or motif (triangles, squares, circles), or a desired mood you’d like to create. Its also a lot of fun to base a theme on an era or period in time (the 50s, 60s, or 70s, for instance – or the Victorian period, or medieval period…).
One you’ve picked a theme, its easy to execute the theme for your party. Simply look for ways to infuse it into each of the different elements of your party. Take a look how easy it is to do:
Invitations should reflect the party theme. Make your own invitations or add thematic details to the invitations. For instance glue small sea shells to the card for a beach party.
Guest attire can help bring forth your theme in an easy manner. Simply ask guests to dress up according to the theme when you send out your invitations. Always make it optional though. It not proper etiquette to insist that guests dress according to a theme.
Next is the entertainment for your party. Live bands or performers (Elvis impersonator, clown, magician, fortune teller, etc) can be hired depending on the age of your party guests. However, if your party budget is small, creating a playlist of music that brings out your theme, or having a movie related to your theme running in the background is a low cost and easy entertainment idea for party themes.
Another easy way to bring out your party theme is through the menu or food. For an Asian inspired theme party, options include noodles, fortune cookies and dim sum, while a Fiesta theme would favor south of the border spicy food and margarhita’s from the bar (if the party is for adults).
A great way to set the tone for the party is to decorate the entrance to the party with easy theme “props”. Props don’t have to be anything elaborite, intricate or expensive. For instance, a pumpkin placed at the front door can effectively set the tone of a Halloween party, while a Santa Claus figurine goes well for a Christmas party. To make your party theme stand out even more, add a few easy decorations that suit the party theme, especially in the main gathering areas and near the food.
Party themes enhance the mood, atmosphere and ambiance of your celebrations, making them more fun, memorable and interactive. Instead of being observers, your guests become participants which really adds to their enjoyment of your party. Party Themes give you the opportunity to show your guests how much you appreciate them through your attention to detail when you take the time to create a special theme to include in your celebration. So be creative and enjoy the party.
