1st Birthday Party Plan for Planners

Your baby’s first birthday is a very special day. After all, your baby is no longer being counted by months or even weeks, and that’s big news and a reason to celebrate – despite what a few naysayers may say. So how do you go about planning your little ones 1st birthday party?1st birthday

The first thing you may want to consider is to schedule the party around your baby’s sleeping time. After all, you don’t want a party if your baby is going to be sleeping through it, and you also don’t want to be keeping your cranky baby awake. It is also a good idea to keep the party short, nothing over two hours seeing as how it may be asking a lot of your child who may become overwhelmed with all the excitement.

Usually first birthday parties are for immediate family and friends, because it is unnecessary to have a big party for someone who can barely talk! It is best to stick with 10 people and under, especially if they want to bring their children. Just keep in mind that you will be entertaining your guests and your baby, so you don’t want to have to deal with too many people. With children, the party will be unpredictable and may not go just as you have planned. If there are going to be other little one’s attending, make sure you baby proof your house, if you haven’t done so already.

As for activities, this party is really for the adults since your child is not old enough to enjoy it to the fullest extent. So games are not necessary unless you want to plan some for the adults to play. One game you could play, is to guess how many cheerio’s or M&M’s are in the jar. Whoever guesses the closest wins! You and your guests could also play a memento game. You gather up pictures of your baby’s first milestones, and have your guests guess when this event first happened. Baby’s first crawl, first bath, first food, etc.. Whoever is closest to the actual date wins a prize.

For food, finger foods are the best to serve along with the cake and ice cream. If you want to prepare an actual sit down meal, that is your choice, but with chasing after your little one and getting ready for the party, simple appetizers are more than enough, especially since this is a short party.

The last thing to keep in mind, is to have a great time visiting with your closest friends and family. This is not the typical bigger birthday party for older children so don’t expect it to be one. Just relax and have fun celebrating your baby’s 1st birthday party milestone! Make sure to scrapbook the pictures!
